Hawaii Summer 1998 -- Aloha,
One hundred and twenty one Girl Scouts and Girl Guides came to Honolulu, Hawaii to make Girl Scout History. Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scout Council of Hawaii sponsored an International Wider Opportunity called "Music Shall Live" that resulted in the first International Chorus of Girl Scouts and Guides.

The Girls gathered in Hawaii from China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Philippines, Samoa. and 33 states of the USA to rehearse, perform and to professionally capture a recording of this historic event on CD and cassette. The recording will be called "Girl Scouts Greatest Choral Hits, The Wind Beneath Our Wings."

During their 10 day stay in the Islands, the girls experienced the beautiful Polynesian cultures and enjoy many of the wonderful sights and adventures that Hawaii has to offer, while bonding with girls from all over the world.

The recording project is the brainchild of Hawaii vocalist and recording artist Melinda Caroll. Melinda composed one of the most popular Girl Scout songs since the sixties when Debbie Reynolds served as the organization's 'Pied Piper.' Melinda's song, "We Change the World" has been sung by Girl Scouts and Girl Guides worldwide.

Grammy and Academy Award winning songwriter, Larry Henley, whose hit, "The Wind Beneath My Wings" is the title track to the Girl Scout choral album, came to Honolulu to mentor and supervise the girls in the recording of this all-time favorite song in scouting circles.
