Girl Scouts Aloha Chips Cookies, broken into pieces
Sliced Fresh Fruit or crushed candy bars
Whipped Cream or prepared whipped topping
Pastry Cream (recipe follows) or prepared pudding

In a clear serving bowl or individual bowls, layer cookie pieces then pastry cream, whipped cream, and fruit or candy bar bits. Repeat the layers. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Pastry Cream:
1 Quart Milk                         I c. Egg Yolk
1 Vanilla Bean                    1/4 c. Cornstarch
1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract        3/4 c. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt                         1/4 c. Butter, cut up

Scald milk with scraped vanilla bean.  In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, cornstarch, vanilla, sugar and salt.  Temper (add slowly while whisking) hot milk mixture into egg mixture.   Pour mixture into a large saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently with a whisk, until mixture comes to a boil and thickens.  Remove from heat and add butter.  Stir until butter melts and is incorporated.  Pour into a bowl and refrigerate until cool.
