Happy Birthday Girl Scouts!

100 years ago, on March 12, 1912, Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low, established the first Girl Scout troop in the United States.  A century later, hundreds of thousands of girls across the nation have participated and benefited from a program that was started to help girls and young women realize their potential and ability to make their communities, cities, states and the world, a better place.

We will be celebrating the countless ways that girls and women have made an impact in our local communities throughout 2012—The Year of the Girl. As part of the Year of the Girl campaign, we encourage mothers, fathers, and all adults, corporations, members of government, as well as other nonprofits to help girls reach their leadership potential. Because when girls succeed, so does society, and we all can play a role in making that happen.

We invite you to help make the celebration of a century of Girl Scouting a memorable success.  Your participation and support of our Year of the Girl activities is key to their success.  Listed below are signature events that we will host as part of our year-long celebration.  To find out how you can support these events and the 100th Anniversary, contact Pattie Dash, Vice President of External Affairs, [email protected] or 410.358.9711 ext. 232.
