VIDEO CONTEST

Join First Lady Michelle Obama and our very own Hawai`i-based volunteers Tiffany and Erica in sharing your great Girl Scout volunteer stories! During National Recruitment Week, we want to encourage more adults to volunteer for Girl Scouts here in Hawai`i. If you are a Girl Scout parent or volunteer, inspire others to join you in volunteering by sharing your story.

We released another very special video of Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, President Barack Obama‘s sister, who is proud to be a Girl Scouts of Hawai`i volunteer. Watch her video for inspiration!

Send your recording to takaneshige@girlscouts-hawaii.org by Monday, October 7 at 5 p.m. and we’ll post it on our Facebook page. The video that receives the most “likes” in a 24-hour period will be highlighted on our GSH website!

Tips:
1. Wear your GS t-shirt and volunteer pin if you have one!
2. Share how volunteering for GS has impacted your life
3. Invite your Girl Scout to share how important having volunteers like you is to her
4. All videos should be family-friendly, and have fun!

By sending in your video, you agree that all persons in the video are Girl Scout members and thus permit Girl Scouts of Hawai`i to publicize your video on our website and other media outlets where appropriate. In order to ensure your privacy, please do not mention any last names or school names in your videos. Testimonial about Girl Scouting in Hawai`i specifically is a plus.

Please include your name, your troop name and level (Daisy, Brownie, etc.) in the email. Videos do not have to be professionally done! The following are acceptable movie formats: mov, mpeg4, avi, wmv, mpegps, flv, 3gpp, webm. For instructions on how to convert your video into one of these file formats, visit YouTube’s troubleshoot page.

Every Journey Needs a Great Guide

info icon “Girl Scout uniform.” “‘Make New Friends’ song lyrics.” “Girl Scout badges and awards.” “Girl Scout activities.” Have you ever researched any of these topics on the internet only to find a wide variety of answers that leave you confused? Have you ever wondered why you can’t find all this information (and more!) in one location?

This workshop will take you on an interactive journey through the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting (GGGS), your all-in-one resource for Girl Scouting. Every Guide is unique to the girls’ age level. Each contains: 1) a Handbook, where you will find the most important Girl Scout information like the Promise and Law; 2) an Awards and Badges section, which supplements the activities found in the Journeys; and 3) a My Girl Scouts section that girls can use to help them track their own Girl Scout experience.

Volunteers: Familiarize yourself with the GGGS and learn how to create the very best Girl Scout experience for your troop. Share stories with both new and experienced volunteers to see what other neat things are happening in our Girl Scout ‘ohana.

Girls: Meet new friends from across the state while learning how to make your Girl Scout experience a fun and exciting journey. Enjoy hands-on activities and special door prizes that you will not want to miss out on!
