New parade Rules — each group MUST have a Chinese or Lunar New Year theme, Carry something related to the Chinese Festival. NO just walking in the parade. In the past, troops had girls make cookie posters, a dragon out of cookie boxes, wave Chinese good fortune banners and papers, and carry lanterns.

Must follow all Safety Activity Checkpoints.
WHERE: Begins on Hotel Street at the State Capitol and proceeds to Maunakea Street at ends at River Street.
WHY: Girls Scouts will have the opportunity to advertise the organization (and upcoming cookie sales—some cookie costumes will be available to wear for the parade).
ATTIRE: Girl Scouts must be in full GS uniform [white top; khaki skirt, skort, or pants; vest or sash; and covered (close-toe) shoes]. If anyone is interested in wearing a cookie costume, please let us know when you register. (Note: There are a limited number of costumes available.)
For the younger girls – daisy, brownie, and juniors — they do not have to wear “white” T-shirt — any GSUSA or GSH T-shirt should be OK…the main goal is for the girls to wear their vest, sash, tunic and NOT show any “skin” as some of the older girls do…COVERED Toe Shoes is a MUST.
This parade is expected to get national coverage. It’s only a 15 – 20 minute walk, but because of the number of participants, the event is scheduled to last longer than 2.5 hours. Honolulu Police Department controls the stop and go of traffic per the entire cross streets.
