WHAT: Night in Chinatown (Chinese New Year) Parade, Honolulu
WHEN: Saturday, January 25, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS NOVEMBER 1 if you want to receive the patch.
*Leaders must carry the Girl Health History form. Girls and parents must be registered in the current Girl Scout year.
TO REGISTER: E-mail Troop Number and the number of participants to Clinton (HWSU manager) at [email protected] by 11/1/2013. If you want to get the special Chinatown Parade patch, you must provide this information to Clinton by Nov. 1, 2013. Must follow all Safety Activity Checkpoints.
The activity fee cost is $3.00 for the girl scouts participating in the parade – this covers the patch, shipping, misc. SU cost, and extra GS Insurance. The Adult activity fee is $.50 per each adult. If you want a patch, you need to register and pay by November 1, 2013 — the patch is a special order and takes time to create/make/ship to Honolulu – 3 inch round patch with a horse wearing a Chinese hat.

WHERE: Begins on Hotel Street at the State Capitol and proceeds to Maunakea Street (ends at River St). Meet at the State Capitol lawn by Iolani Palace around 3:00 p.m.
WHY: Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to advertise the organization (and upcoming cookie sales—some cookie costumes will be available to wear for the parade).
ATTIRE: Girl Scouts must be in full GS uniform [white top; khaki skirt, skort, or pants; vest or sash; and covered (closed-toe) shoes]. Younger Girl Scouts (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors) can wear any GSUSA or GSH t-shirt if they do not have the full uniform, but they should wear their vest, sash or tunic. If anyone is interested in wearing a cookie costume, please let us know when you register. (Note: There are a limited number of costumes available.)

This parade is expected to get national coverage. It’s actually only a 15 – 20 minute walk, but because of the number of participants in past years, the event is scheduled to last longer than 2.5 hours. HPD controls the stop and go of traffic per the entire cross streets.
