Every year, girls in Hawai`i complete their Gold Award Project. It’s an accomplishment made with hard work, determination and the help of countless volunteers and parents.
Erin, Dana and Taylor of Troop 543 are just one example of the impact Girl Scouts can make in our community.

On December 20, 2012, Erin, Dana and Taylor collected pajamas and books for their Gold Award project, aptly named PB&J (Pajamas, Books & Justice) at the Metro Rotary Club’s meeting. The trio spent months gathering much-needed clothing and children’s books for the Hawaii Chapter of the Pajama Program, which provides comfort to disadvantaged children and promotes literacy and the Children’s Justice Center of O`ahu, a judiciary program that creates a homelike setting for abused children.
The girls were also part of a very important milestone for the Pajama Program, which received 2 million donations since its inception 11 years ago.
In addition to the donations, the Troop created a mural at the new Kapolei Justice Center facility, launched a website to sustain the project, and created a resource and healing pamphlet for children. Thank you to Erin, Dana and Taylor who continue to develop the courage, confidence and character, to make this world a better place!
